Dental surgery is that part of dentistry that involves a number of medical procedures aimed at artificially altering the dentition in order to treat dental caries. Dental caries (tooth cavity or tooth decay) is the condition where the hard tooth structure (dentin, cementum, and enamel) are damaged by bacterial processes. A more specialized type of dental surgery is maxillofacial and oral surgery.

Dental surgery involves filling the decayed tooth with dental composite, dental amalgam, dental porcelain, and expensive or non-expensive metals. X-rays, devices, and medications are prescribed by the dentists for in-office or in-home use. All the services can found at San Diego dental surgery.

Various dental abnormalities such as non-erupted teeth and several oral diseases such as keratocysts and bilateral odontogenic, can signify neural, systemic, or other diseases. Mostly, practitioners of dental surgery perform exodontia, periodontal therapy, endodontic, restorative, prosthetic therapy, along with several medical tests and examinations.

A brief explanation of different types of dental surgery is given below:

Prosthodontic Treatment (Dental Prosthetics):

This surgery involves placing artificial tooth coverings such as a tooth crown or a tooth veneer, or using dentures (false teeth) or implants. Sometimes, it involves connecting two or more crowns together (Bridge). In implant-supported prosthesis, a combination of implants and dentures is used.

Orthodontic Treatment:

It may involve implants and implant-supported prosthesis, extraction (a redundant, problematic, diseased tooth is removed by cutting or pulling it out), apiectomy (part of an underlying bone structure is removed), or fiberotomy (serving the fibers around the tooth).

Endodontic Treatment:

It is a dental surgery involving the treatment of the root or pulp of the tooth. It may involve a root canal treatment or an apicoectomy (a root-end resection). The root canal treatment is usually followed by either pulpotomy (opening the tooth’s pulp chamber for allowing the infection to drain), or pulpectomy (removing the pulp from the pulp cavity for temporary relief from pain).

Are you are suffering with skin related problems, majorly the ups and down of the skin? Now, there is certainly no need for you to suffer in silence any more. Knightsbridge Laser Clinic offers you a course of IPL treatment especially for your skin. They have devised this new method of IPL treatment for treating acne related problems of your skin.

This method mainly utilizes the light for combating acne. This light in turned into heat energy and goes further into the skin, thereby producing some light reaction with sebaceous glands. The heat energy helps in slowing down the further production of oil from your skin which was mainly responsible for acne. As there is less amount of sebum that is produced, therefore, the skin starts becoming clearer by day.

There is absolutely no need to worry as the light which is being to the skin is of a particular wavelength only. Therefore, it is quite safe for using on the skin. The added advantage of using light is that, it is mainly targeted to the porphyrins, which are mainly caused by the bacteria. The light energy completely destroys them thereby reducing the chances of infection and further production of acne. The heat energy also acts as a catalyst for stimulating collagen, which leads to faster healing of the skin and results in a softer looking skin without any scars.

Knightsbridge Laser Clinic makes sure that they study your skin carefully and start with the treatment accordingly. Now you can dare to have the kind of skin that you always dreamt of.

Chikungunya fever is a viral disease transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. Chikungunya is virus (CHIKV) an insect-borne virus, of the genus, Alphavirus, that is transmitted to humans by virus-carrying Aedes mosquitoes. There have been recent outbreaks of CHIKV associated with severe morbidity. CHIKV causes an illness with symptoms similar to dengue fever. CHIKV manifests itself with an acute febrile phase of the illness lasts only two to five days. Followed by a prolonged arthralgic disease that affects the joints of the extremities. The pain associated with CHIKV infection of the joints persists for weeks or months.

Signs and Symptoms

The incubation period of chikungunya fever is usually 3-7 days. The symptoms are very similar to that of dengue, but unlike dengue, hemorrhagic or shock syndrome does not take place with chikungunya fever. The infected person may experience the following symptoms:

fever

chills

headache

fatigue

nausea

vomiting

muscle pain

rash

joint pain

Treatment

There are currently no medications or vaccines for the treatment of chikungunya fever. However lots of rest, a nutritious diet, plenty of fluids and mild pain medications may relieve symptoms of fever and body aches. If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above, you are advised to see a doctor immediately.

Prevention

Tips when travelling:

Use insect repellent on exposed skin surfaces when outdoors, especially during the day.

Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when outdoors.

Where possible, stay in accommodations that have secure screens on windows or air-conditioning to keep the mosquitoes out.

However if you still develop a fever, see a doctor immediately to test your blood for any signs of the chikungunya virus. If your blood test shows positive signs of the virus, stay indoors to limit mosquito bites in order to avoid further spread of the infection.

At home, the prevention of chikungunya fever is similar to that of dengue fever. Clear any stagnant water in flower vases, flower pots, roof gutters and watering cans to prevent the breeding of its carrier, the Aedes mosquito

Breast cancer is refers to a malignant tumor that has developed from cells in the breast. Usually breast cancer either begins in the cells of the lobules, which are the milk-producing glands, or the ducts, thepassages that drain milk from the lobules to the nipple. Less commonly, breast cancer can begin in the stromal tissues, which include the fatty and fibrous connective tissues of the breast.

Breast cancer is always caused by a genetic abnormality (a “mistake” in the genetic material). However, only 5-10% of cancers are due to an abnormality inherited from your mother or father. About 90% of breast cancers are due to genetic abnormalities that happen as a result of the aging process and the “wear and tear” of life in general.

Risk factors you can control

Weight. Being overweight is associated with increased risk of breast cancer, especially for women after menopause. Fat tissue is the body’s main source of estrogen after menopause, when the ovaries stop producing the hormone. Having more fat tissue means having higher estrogen levels, which can increase breast cancer risk.

Diet. Diet is a suspected risk factor for many types of cancer, including breast cancer, but studies have yet to show for sure which types of foods increase risk. It’s a good idea to restrict sources of red meat and other animal fats (including dairy fat in cheese, milk, and ice cream), because they may contain hormones, other growth factors, antibiotics, and pesticides. Some researchers believe that eating too much cholesterol and other fats are risk factors for cancer, and studies show that eating a lot of red and/or processed meats is associated with a higher risk of breast cancer. A low-fat diet rich in fruits and vegetables is generally recommended.

Exercise. Evidence is growing that exercise can reduce breast cancer risk. The American Cancer Society recommends engaging in 45-60 minutes of physical exercise 5 or more days a week.

Alcohol consumption. Studies have shown that breast cancer risk increases with the amount of alcohol a woman drinks. Alcohol can limit your liver’s ability to control blood levels of the hormone estrogen, which in turn can increase risk.

Smoking. Smoking is associated with a small increase in breast cancer risk.

Every year around 11,000 women die and 49,000 new cases are diagnosed. However, there are things you can do to prevent breast cancer so that your risk is lowered.

Things You Can Do to Prevent Breast Cancer:

• Diet: If you improve your diet, you can dramatically reduce the risk of getting breast cancer. Avoid foods like pastries, pizzas, fried foods. Instead start eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. In addition, cut down on alcohol, tea, coffee and nicotine.
• Exercise: Make it a point to exercise at least for 30 minutes a day. This will reduce the chances of developing present by 30 to 40 percent. Having a healthy body will allow it to fight not just against cancer but other infections and diseases.
• Pregnancy: Doctors advocate women having their first child by the age of 25. Although there is no concrete evidence but doctors say that women who have children early reduce their chances of getting breast cancer significantly compared to women who have their first child in their 30s.
• Breastfeed your baby for at least 6 months: The risk of developing cancer reduces if you breastfeed your child for at least 6 months.
