Please wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt especially while you on sleep. Use socks to your foot if posible. Cover to head and ear with hat. Using ear flaps to completely covering your head and ears. Please treating all your clothing with Permethrin product. Especially if you will be in a mosquito-infested area for a long period of time. This chemical will last on treated your clothes for up to five washings. Do not spray Permethrin on your skin. It would effect to your skin.

Keep a bottle of aerosol like Shieldtox in your house. Spray all your room area 10 minutes before you go to bed. Spray the dark and hidden area that have big potential for mosquito sitting at. Generously spray the area around your ankles, and other exposed skin, with a repellent containing 30 percent DEET (diethyltoluamide). Lotions and gels are also available.

Wash all skin exposed to repellent with warm soapy water after exiting a mosquito-ridden area. Use all the method everywhere you go or even you at home. It is very important to prevent you away from mosquito bites.

Chikungunya fever is a viral disease transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. Chikungunya is virus (CHIKV) an insect-borne virus, of the genus, Alphavirus, that is transmitted to humans by virus-carrying Aedes mosquitoes. There have been recent outbreaks of CHIKV associated with severe morbidity. CHIKV causes an illness with symptoms similar to dengue fever. CHIKV manifests itself with an acute febrile phase of the illness lasts only two to five days. Followed by a prolonged arthralgic disease that affects the joints of the extremities. The pain associated with CHIKV infection of the joints persists for weeks or months.

Signs and Symptoms

The incubation period of chikungunya fever is usually 3-7 days. The symptoms are very similar to that of dengue, but unlike dengue, hemorrhagic or shock syndrome does not take place with chikungunya fever. The infected person may experience the following symptoms:

fever

chills

headache

fatigue

nausea

vomiting

muscle pain

rash

joint pain

Treatment

There are currently no medications or vaccines for the treatment of chikungunya fever. However lots of rest, a nutritious diet, plenty of fluids and mild pain medications may relieve symptoms of fever and body aches. If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above, you are advised to see a doctor immediately.

Prevention

Tips when travelling:

Use insect repellent on exposed skin surfaces when outdoors, especially during the day.

Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when outdoors.

Where possible, stay in accommodations that have secure screens on windows or air-conditioning to keep the mosquitoes out.

However if you still develop a fever, see a doctor immediately to test your blood for any signs of the chikungunya virus. If your blood test shows positive signs of the virus, stay indoors to limit mosquito bites in order to avoid further spread of the infection.

At home, the prevention of chikungunya fever is similar to that of dengue fever. Clear any stagnant water in flower vases, flower pots, roof gutters and watering cans to prevent the breeding of its carrier, the Aedes mosquito
